In The Old Theatre, Fiesole. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAA ABBA CDDCDC

I traced the Circus whose gray stones inclineA
Where Rome and dim Etruria interjoinA
Till came a child who showed an ancient coinA
That bore the image of a ConstantineA
-
She lightly passed nor did she once opineA
How better than all books she had raised for meB
In swift perspective Europe's historyB
Through the vast years of Caesar's sceptred lineA
-
For in my distant plot of English loamC
'Twas but to delve and straightway there to findD
Coins of like impress As with one half blindD
Whom common simples cure her act flashed homeC
In that mute moment to my opened mindD
The power the pride the reach of perished RomeC
