In a heavy time I dogged myselfA
Along a louring wayB
Till my leading self to my following selfA
Said Why do you hang on meC
So harassinglyD
-
I have watched you Heart of mine I criedE
So often going astrayB
And leaving me that I have pursuedF
Feeling such truancyC
Ought not to beC
-
He said no more and I dogged him onG
From noon to the dun of dayB
By prowling paths until anewH
He begged Please turn and fleeC
What do you seeC
-
Methinks I see a man said II
Dimming his hours to grayB
I will not leave him while I knowJ
Part of myself is heC
Who dreams such dreeB
-
I go to my old friend's house he urgedK
So do not watch me prayB
Well I will leave you in peace said II
Though of this poignancyC
You should fight freeC
-
Your friend O other me is deadL
You know not what you sayB
That do I And at his green grassed doorB
By night's bright galaxyC
I bend a kneeC
-
The yew plumes moved like mockers' beardsM
Though only boughs were theyB
And I seemed to go yet still was thereB
And am and there haunt weC
Thus bootlesslyC
