Four Footprints Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF DF F GHGH

Here are the tracks upon the sandA
Where stood last evening she and IB
Pressed heart to heart and hand to handA
The morning sun has baked them dryB
-
I kissed her wet face wet with rainC
For arid grief had burnt up tearsD
While reached us as in sleeping painC
The distant gurgling of the weirsD
-
I have married him yes feel that ringE
'Tis a week ago that he put it onF
A dutiful daughter does this thingE
And resignation succeeds anonF
-
But that I body and soul was yoursD
Ere he'd possession he'll never knowF
He's a confident man 'The husband scores '-
He says 'in the long run' Now Dear goF
-
I went And to day I pass the spotG
It is only a smart the more to endureH
And she whom I held is as though she were notG
For they have resumed their honeymoon tourH
