A Poet Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EFGG H II

Attentive eyes fantastic heedA
Assessing minds he does not needA
Nor urgent writs to sup or dineB
Nor pledges in the roseate wineB
-
For loud acclaim he does not careC
By the august or rich or fairC
Nor for smart pilgrims from afarD
Curious on where his hauntings areD
-
But soon or later when you hearE
That he has doffed this wrinkled gearF
Some evening at the first star rayG
Come to his graveside pause and sayG
-
'Whatever his message his to tellH
Two thoughtful women loved him well '-
Stand and say that amid the dimI
It will be praise enough for himI
