Weave the warp and weave the woofA
The winding sheet of Edward's raceB
Give ample room and verge enoughC
The characters of hell to traceB
Mark the year and mark the nightD
When Severn shall re echo with affrightD
The shrieks of death thro' Berkley's roofs that ringE
Shrieks of an agonizing KingE
She wolf of France with unrelenting fangsF
That tear'st the bowels of thy mangled mateD
From thee be born who o'er thy country hangsF
The scourge of Heav'n What terrors round him waitD
Amazement in his van with Flight combinedD
And Sorrow's faded form and Solitude behindD
-
Mighty Victor mighty LordD
Low on his funeral couch he liesG
No pitying heart no eye affordD
A tear to grace his obsequiesG
Is the sable warrior fledD
Thy son is gone He rests among the deadD
The swarm that in thy noon tide beam were bornH
Gone to salute the rising mornH
Fair laughs the morn and soft the zephyr blowsG
While proudly riding o'er the azure realmI
In gallant trim the gilded vessel goesG
Youth on the prow and Pleasure at the helmI
Regardless of the sweeping whirlwind's swayJ
That hush'd in grim repose expects his evening preyJ
-
Fill high the sparkling bowlK
The rich repast prepareL
Reft of a crown he yet may share the feastD
Close by the regal chairL
Fell Thirst and Famine scowlM
A baleful smile upon their baffled guestD
Heard ye the din of battle brayJ
Lance to lance and horse to horseG
Long years of havoc urge their destined courseG
And thro' the kindred squadrons mow their wayJ
Ye Towers of Julius London's lasting shameN
With many a foul and midnight murder fedD
Revere his consort's faith his father's fameN
And spare the meek usurper's holy headD
Above below the rose of snowO
Twined with her blushing foe we spreadD
The bristled boar in infant goreP
Wallows beneath the thorny shadeD
Now brothers bending o'er th' accurs egrave d loomQ
Stamp we our vengeance deep and ratify his doomQ
-
Edward lo to sudden fateD
Weave we the woof The thread is spunR
Half of thy heart we consecrateD
The web is wove The work is doneR
