To Sarah, While Singing Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCBB DEEDD FGGFF H

Written at the Cottage of T LEWIS Esq Woodbury DownsA
-
-
In the retirement of this lovely spotB
Sacred to friendship industry and worthC
To boundless hospitality and mirthC
Be ever peace and joy all care forgotB
Save that which carest for a higher holier lotB
-
And thou sweet girl whose lovely modest mienD
Cheers the gay banquet with unconscious wilesE
Long mayest thou grace it with affection's smilesE
The vocal syren of this sylvan sceneD
Warbling thy sweetest notes 'midst flowers and woodlands greenD
-
Long be the social circle's grace and prideF
Of parents' hopes the dearest and the bestG
The Dove of promise to this ark of restG
Who when around the world's fierce billows rideF
Beareth the branch that speaks of the receding tideF
