To Mary. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEDFAFAGEGCOh is there not in infant smiles | A |
A witching power a cheering ray | B |
A charm that every care beguiles | A |
And bids the weary soul be gay | B |
There surely is for thou hast been | C |
Child of my heart my peaceful dove | D |
Gladdening life's sad and chequer'd scene | E |
An emblem of the peace above | D |
Now all is calm and dark and still | F |
And bright the beam the moonlight throws | A |
On ocean wave and gentle rill | F |
And on thy slumbering cheek of rose | A |
And may no care disturb that breast | G |
Nor sorrow dim that brow serene | E |
And may thy latest years be bless'd | G |
As thy sweet infancy has been | C |
