To Eliza. (written In Her Album.) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD ECEC FGFH IJIJ KLKL MCMC IIII

I dare not spoil this spotless pageA
With any feeble verse of mineB
The Poet's fire has lost its rageA
Around his lyre no myrtles twineB
-
The voice of fame cannot recalC
Those fairy days of past delightD
When pleasure seem'd to welcome allC
And morning hail'd a welcome nightD
-
E'en love has lost its soothing powerE
Its spells no more can chain my soulC
I must not venture in the bowerE
Where Wit and Verse and Wine controulC
-
And yet I fear in thoughtless mirthF
I once did say Eliza dearG
That I would tell the world thy worthF
And write the living record hereH
-
Come Love and Truth and Friendship comeI
Enwreath'd in Virtue's snowy armsJ
With magic rhymes the page illumeI
And fancy sketch her varied charmsJ
-
Which o'er the cares of home has thrownK
A thousand blessings deep engravedL
For every heart she makes her ownK
And every friend is free enslavedL
-
No Inspiration o'er my penM
Glows with the lightning's vivid spellC
My soul is sad forgive me thenM
My heart's too full the tale to tellC
-
Yet if the humblest poet's themeI
Be welcome in Eliza's nameI
Then angel give the cheering gleamI
For thy approving smile is fameI
