The Presumptuous Fly Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBCDBDBE FBGBHBHBE

Sung by Mr PYNE Composed by Mr ROOKEA
-
-
Come away come away little flyB
Don't disturb the sweet calm of lore's nestC
If you do I protest you shall dieB
And your tomb be that beautiful breastC
Don't tickle the girl in her sleepD
Don't cause so much beauty to sighB
If she frown half the graces will weepD
If she weep all the graces will dieB
Come away little fly cE
-
Now she wakes steal a kiss and be goneF
Life is precious away little flyB
Should your rudeness provoke her to scornG
You'll meet death from the glance of her eyeB
Were I ask'd by fair Chloe to sayH
How I felt as the flutterer I chidB
I should own as I drove it awayH
I wish'd to be there in its steadB
Come away little fly cE
