Sunday Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFGFHHIIJJA AKL

Come thou blessed day of restA
Soother of the tortured breastA
Wearied souls release from toilB
Life's eternal sad turmoilB
How I love thy tuneful bellsC
Which a welcome story tellsC
Bids the wanderer rest and prayD
On this peaceful holy dayD
All creation seems to pauseE
Man uncatechized by lawsE
Looks to God with grateful eyesF
In such blessed sympathiesG
All his rebel nature diesF
See the monster crime hath madeH
Resting from his restless tradeH
Unfit to live afraid to dieI
Hear his deep unconscious sighI
See his former horrid mienJ
Changed to the bright sereneJ
View him on his BIBLE restA
Care no longer gnaws his breastA
Heaven in mercy let him liveK
Religion such the peace you giveL
