Sonnet. To ............ Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEGHH

Thou bud of early promise may the roseA
Which time methinks will rear in envied bloomB
By friendship nurs'd its grateful sweets discloseA
Nor e'er be nipt in life's disast'rous gloomB
For much thou ow'st to him whose studious mindC
Rear'd thy young years and all thy wants suppliedD
Whose every precept breath'd affection kindC
And to the friend's a father's love alliedD
Oh how 'twill glad him in life's evening dayE
To see that mind parental care adorn'dF
With grateful love the debt immense repayE
And realize each hope affection form'dG
The deed be thine 'twill many a care assuageH
Exalt thy worth and blunt the thorns of ageH
