On The Death Of Nelson Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEFGGHHAAIIJJ

Swift through the land while Fame transported fliesA
And shouts triumphant shake th' illumined skiesA
Britannia bending o'er her dauntless prowsB
With laurels thickening round her blazon'd browsB
In joy dejected sees her triumph cross'dC
Exults in Victory won but mourns the Victor lostC
Immortal NELSON still with fond amazeD
Thy glorious deed each British eye surveysD
Beholds thee still on conquer'd floods afarE
Fate's flaming shaft the thunderbolt of warF
Hurl'd from thy hands Britannia's vengeance roarsG
And bloody billows stain the hostile shoresG
Thy sacred ire Confed'rate Kingdoms bravesH
And 'whelms their Navies in Sepulchral wavesH
Graced with each attribute which Heaven suppliesA
To Godlike Chiefs humane intrepid wiseA
His Nation's Bulwark and all Nature's prideI
The Hero lived and as he lived he diedI
Transcendant destiny how bless'd the braveJ
Whose fall his Country's tears attend shower'd on his trophied graveJ
