On The Death Of Mrs. Charlotte Smith Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCDEEDFFGFFG

Sweet songstress whom the melancholy MuseA
With more than fondness loved for thee she strungB
The lyre on which herself enraptured hungB
And bade thee through the world its sweets diffuseC
Oft hath my childhood's tributary tearD
Paid homage to the sad harmonious strainE
That told alas too true the grief and painE
Which thy afflicted mind was doom'd to bearD
Rest sainted spirit from a life of woeF
And though no friendly hand on thee bestowF
The stately marble or emblazon'd nameG
To tell a thoughtless world who sleeps belowF
Yet o'er thy narrow bed a wreath shall blowF
Deriving vigour from the breath of fameG
