Night Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCADEEDFGGFHHNow when dun Night her shadowy veil has spread | A |
See want and infamy as forth they come | B |
Lead their wan daughter from her branded home | C |
To woo the stranger for unhallow'd bread | A |
Poor outcast o'er thy sickly tinted cheek | D |
And half clad form what havoc want hath made | E |
And the sweet lustre of thine eye doth fade | E |
And all thy soul's sad sorrow seems to speak | D |
O miserable state compell'd to wear | F |
The wooing smile as on thy aching breast | G |
Some wretch reclines who feeling ne'er possess'd | G |
Thy poor heart bursting with the stifled tear | F |
Oh GOD OF MERCY bid her woes subside | H |
And be to her a friend who hath no friend beside | H |
