Night Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCADEEDFGGFHH

Now when dun Night her shadowy veil has spreadA
See want and infamy as forth they comeB
Lead their wan daughter from her branded homeC
To woo the stranger for unhallow'd breadA
Poor outcast o'er thy sickly tinted cheekD
And half clad form what havoc want hath madeE
And the sweet lustre of thine eye doth fadeE
And all thy soul's sad sorrow seems to speakD
O miserable state compell'd to wearF
The wooing smile as on thy aching breastG
Some wretch reclines who feeling ne'er possess'dG
Thy poor heart bursting with the stifled tearF
Oh GOD OF MERCY bid her woes subsideH
And be to her a friend who hath no friend besideH
