Lines, Written On The Sixth Of September Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCADEF GHDIJAKHL MNOHMP

Ill Fated hour oft as thy annual reignA
Leads on th'autumnal tide my pinion'd joysB
Fade with the glories of the fading yearC
Remembrance 'wakes with all her busy trainA
And bids affection heave the heart drawn sighD
O'er the cold tomb rich with the spoils of deathE
And wet with many a tributary tearF
-
Eight times has each successive season sway'dG
The fruitful sceptre of our milder climeH
Since My Loved died but why ah whyD
Should melancholy cloud my early yearsI
Religion spurns earth's visionary sceneJ
Philosophy revolts at misery's chainA
Just Heaven recall'd it's own the pilgrim call'dK
From human woes from sorrow's rankling wormH
Shall frailty then prevailL
-
Oh be it mineM
To curb the sigh which bursts o'er Heaven's decreeN
To tread the path of rectitude that whenO
Life's dying ray shall glimmer in the frameH
That latest breath I may in peace resignM
Firm in the faith of seeing thee and GodP
