Lines, To The Memory Of A Lady. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDEF GHIH JKLK

Bring the sad cypress wreath to grace the tombA
Where rests the liberal friend of human kindB
Around its base let deathless flow'rets bloomA
Wet with the off'rings of the grateful mindB
-
Firm was thy friendship ardent and sincereC
Gen'rous thy soul to ev'ry suff'rer prov'dD
Rest sainted shade blest with the heart felt tearE
On earth lamented and in heaven belov'dF
-
Now will the widow weep that thou art goneG
Who oft her unprotected babes hast fedH
While tottering age shall heave the sigh forlornI
As slow they move to beg their bitter breadH
-
Long shall the memory of thy worth surviveJ
Grav'd on the heart when sinks the trophied stoneK
Oh may the plenty bless'd as freely giveL
And from thy life of virtue form their ownK
