Lines Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AB CCDE FFGGHH

Written In A Copy Of The Poem On Princess CharlotteA
Presented to Mrs D TB
-
-
Madam when sorrowing o'er the virtuous deadC
The gentlest solace of the tears we shedC
Is to surviving excellence to turnD
And honour there those merits that we mournE
-
The Muse whose hand fair Brunswick's ashes strewF
With votive flowers would weave a wreath for YouF
But living worth forbids th' applausive layG
Therefore repressing all respect would sayG
She proffers silently her simple strainH
If you approve she has not toil'd in vainH
