Lines, Delivered After The Representation Of A Play At A Young Ladies' Boarding School. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEFGGHHIIJKLL

When first the infant bird attempts to flyA
And cautious spreads its pinions to the skyA
Each happy breeze the timid trav'ller cheersB
Assists its efforts and allays its fearsB
Return'd how pleas'd it views the shelt'ring nestC
From which it rose with doubt and fear oppress'dC
-
Like this is ours this night we ventur'd outD
On juv'nile wing appall'd by many a doubtD
Cheer'd by your sanction every peril o'erE
With joy we hail this welcome friendly shoreF
Our little band ambitious now to raiseG
A pleasing off'ring for your wreath of praiseG
On them bestow'd depute me here to tellH
The lively feelings that their bosoms swellH
For your indulgent and parental partI
They feel the triumph of a grateful heartI
That each revolving year shall truly proveJ
How much they honor how sincere they loveK
And for your fostering care will make returnL
By filial duty and desire to learnL
