Impromptu, To Oriana, On Attending With Her, As Sponsors, At A Christening Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJFK

Lady who didst with angel look and smileA
And the sweet lustre of those dear dark eyesB
Gracefully bend before the font of ChristC
In humble adoration faith and prayerD
Oh as the infant pledge of friends belovedE
Received from thy pure lips its future nameF
Sweetly unconscious look'd the baby boyG
How beautifully helpless and how mildH
Methought a seraph spread her shelt'ring wingsI
Over the solemn scene and as the sunJ
In its full splendour on the altar cameF
God's blessing seem'd to sanctify the deedK
