The Voice Of The Willows Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFEGG HIFJKEFEGG LMFMFEKEGG

Hiding away from the sunlightA
Close by a rippling streamB
Hallowed by childish fanciesC
And many a waking dreamB
There is my royal palaceD
Within it my regal throneE
The former a grave of willowsF
The latter a mossy stoneE
And legends of hope did the willows tellG
To my childish ears in that rustic dellG
-
Here in my sunny childhoodH
I dreamed in my mystic homeI
Weaving the fairy garlandsF
To wear in the years to comeJ
Friendship and love and honourK
They all were to be my ownE
The future was strewn with rosesF
As I dreamed on my mossy stoneE
And still through the leaves as they fluttered or fellG
The breezes sang in the willow dellG
-
Visions of hope are departedL
Fairy like dreams have fledM
The thorns still remain but the rosesF
Like friendship and love are deadM
The breezes sigh through the willowsF
I ponder and dream aloneE
Of the life beyond the riverK
As I sit on my mossy stoneE
And the breezes sound like a funeral knellG
As they sigh and sob through the willow dellG
