With our burdens of care and sorrow | C |
O'er a pathway bedewed with tears | D |

Our hearts should with rapture swell | F |

As the sun in its morning splendour | C |
Dispelled the dark gloom of night | H |

Over hill top and wood and dell | F |
Yet my joy was alloyed with sorrow | C |
As I bade the bright stars Farewell | F |

I have seen the red sun descending | G |
To its home in the glowing west | I |
Whilst the tremulous voice of nature | C |
Was solemnly lulled to rest | I |
I have welcomed the stars appearing | G |
And greeted them one by one | J |
Yet my greeting was toned with sadness | K |
As I said Farewell to the sun | J |
- | |
When we welcome the summer sunshine | L |
Farewell to the flowers of Spring | G |
Adieu to the fruits of Autumn | M |
When we welcome the frosty king | G |
Good bye to the joys of childhood | N |
When vigorous youth appears | B |
Then a season of strife and turmoil | O |
And farewell to the vanished years | B |
- | |
I am sighing a farewell message | P |
As I sit in the gathering gloom | Q |
Farewell to all earthly sorrows | R |
Then rest in the silent tomb | Q |
Farewell to the trees and flowers | S |
To mountain and stream and dell | F |
Farewell to the glorious sunlight | H |
To the moon and stars Farewell | F |
