A Cruel Mistress. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDEFFGGHIJJKK

We read of kings and gods that kindly tookA
A pitcher fill'd with water from the brookA
But I have daily tender'd without thanksB
Rivers of tears that overflow their banksB
A slaughter'd bull will appease angry JoveC
A horse the Sun a lamb the god of loveC
But she disdains the spotless sacrificeD
Of a pure heart that at her altar liesE
Vesta is not displeased if her chaste urnF
Do with repaired fuel ever burnF
But my saint frowns though to her honour'd nameG
I consecrate a never dying flameG
Th' Assyrian king did none i' th' furnace throwH
But those that to his image did not bowI
With bended knees I daily worship herJ
Yet she consumes her own idolaterJ
Of such a goddess no times leave recordK
That burnt the temple where she was adoredK
