| But she disdains the spotless sacrifice | D |
| Of a pure heart that at her altar lies | E |
| Vesta is not displeased if her chaste urn | F |
| Do with repaired fuel ever burn | F |
| But my saint frowns though to her honour'd name | G |
| I consecrate a never dying flame | G |
| Th' Assyrian king did none i' th' furnace throw | H |
| But those that to his image did not bow | I |
| With bended knees I daily worship her | J |
| Yet she consumes her own idolater | J |
| Of such a goddess no times leave record | K |
| That burnt the temple where she was adored | K |
