Jack And Joan Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDE FFGHIIJJ KKLLMMLN OOBBPPQQ

Jack and Joan they think no illA
But loving live and merry stillA
Do their week days' work and prayB
Devoutly on the holy dayB
Skip and trip it on the greenC
And help to choose the Summer QueenC
Lash out at a country feastD
Their silver penny with the bestE
-
Well can they judge of nappy aleF
And tell at large a winter taleF
Climb up to the apple loftG
And turn the crabs till they be softH
Tib is all the father's joyI
And little Tom the mother's boyI
All their pleasure is ContentJ
And care to pay their yearly rentJ
-
Joan can call by name her cowsK
And deck her window with green boughsK
She can wreaths and tutties makeL
And trim with plums a bridal cakeL
Jack knows what brings gain or lossM
And his long flail can stoutly tossM
Makes the hedge which others breakL
And ever thinks what he doth speakN
-
Now you courtly dames and knightsO
That study only strange delightsO
Though you scorn the homespun greyB
And revel in your rich arrayB
Though your tongues dissemble deepP
And can your heads from danger keepP
Yet for all your pomp and trainQ
Securer lives the silly swainQ
