Follow Thy Fair Sun Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC CCCC CBBC EFFE

Follow thy fair sun unhappy shadowA
Though thou be black as nightB
And she made all of lightB
Yet follow thy fair sun unhappy shadowA
-
Follow her whose light thy light deprivethC
Though here thou liv'st disgrac'dD
And she in heaven is plac'dD
Yet follow her whose light the world revivethC
-
Follow those pure beams whose beauty burnethC
That so have scorched theeC
As thou still black must beC
Till her kind beams thy black to brightness turnethC
-
Follow her while yet her glory shinethC
There comes a luckless nightB
That will dim all her lightB
And this the black unhappy shade divinethC
-
Follow still since so thy fates ordainedE
The sun must have his shadeF
Till both at once do fadeF
The sun still proud the shadow still disdainedE
