The Beech Tree's Petition Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEAA FFGHIIJJKKLLMMAA

O leave this barren spot to meA
Spare woodman spare the beechen treeA
Though bush or floweret never growB
My dark unwarming shade belowB
Nor summer bud perfume the dewC
Of rosy blush or yellow hueC
Nor fruits of autumn blossom bornD
My green and glossy leaves adornD
Nor murmuring tribes from me deriveE
Th' ambrosial amber of the hiveE
Yet leave this barren spot to meA
Spare woodman spare the beechen treeA
-
Thrice twenty summers I have seenF
The sky grow bright the forest greenF
And many a wintry wind have stoodG
In bloomless fruitless solitudeH
Since childhood in my pleasant bowerI
First spent its sweet and sportive hourI
Since youthful lovers in my shadeJ
Their vows of truth and rapture madeJ
And on my trunk's surviving frameK
Carved many a long forgotten nameK
Oh by the sighs of gentle soundL
First breathed upon this sacred groundL
By all that Love has whispered hereM
Or Beauty heard with ravished earM
As Love's own altar honor meA
Spare woodman spare the beechen treeA
