A Scene On The Susquehana Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBCCDCDD BBBBBEBEE

Excerpt from Gertrude Of WyomingA
-
-
Delightful Wyoming beneath thy skiesB
The happy shepherd swains had nought to doC
But feed their flocks on green declivitiesB
Or skim perchance thy lake with light canoeC
From morn till evening's sweeter pastime grewC
With timbrel when beneath the forests brownD
Thy lovely maidens would the dance renewC
And aye those sunny mountains half way downD
Would echo flagelet from some romantic townD
-
Then where of Indian hills the daylight takesB
His leave how might you the flamingo seeB
Disporting like a meteor on the lakesB
And playful squirrel on his nut grown treeB
And every sound of life was full of gleeB
From merry mock bird's song or hum of menE
While hearkening fearing nought their revelryB
The wild deer arched his neck from glades and thenE
Unhunted sought his woods and wilderness againE
