A Scene On The Susquehana Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: A BCBCCDCDD BBBBBEBEEExcerpt from Gertrude Of Wyoming | A |
- | |
- | |
Delightful Wyoming beneath thy skies | B |
The happy shepherd swains had nought to do | C |
But feed their flocks on green declivities | B |
Or skim perchance thy lake with light canoe | C |
From morn till evening's sweeter pastime grew | C |
With timbrel when beneath the forests brown | D |
Thy lovely maidens would the dance renew | C |
And aye those sunny mountains half way down | D |
Would echo flagelet from some romantic town | D |
- | |
Then where of Indian hills the daylight takes | B |
His leave how might you the flamingo see | B |
Disporting like a meteor on the lakes | B |
And playful squirrel on his nut grown tree | B |
And every sound of life was full of glee | B |
From merry mock bird's song or hum of men | E |
While hearkening fearing nought their revelry | B |
The wild deer arched his neck from glades and then | E |
Unhunted sought his woods and wilderness again | E |
