Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECDEThough I am native to this frozen zone | A |
That half the twelvemonth torpid lies or dead | B |
Though the cold azure arching overhead | B |
And the Atlantic's never ending moan | A |
Are mine by heritage I must have known | A |
Life otherwhere in epochs long since fled | B |
For in my veins some Orient blood is red | B |
And through my thought are lotus blossoms blown | A |
I do remember it was just at dusk | C |
Near a walled garden at the river's turn | D |
A thousand summers seem but yesterday | E |
A Nubian girl more sweet than Khoorja musk | C |
Came to the water tank to fill her urn | D |
And with the urn she bore my heart away | E |
