Guilielmus Rex Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDF GHGH IJIJ

The folk who lived in Shakespeare's dayA
And saw that gentle figure passB
By London Bridge his frequent wayA
They little knew what man he wasC
-
The pointed beard the courteous mienD
The equal port to high and lowE
All this they saw or might have seenD
But not the light behind the browF
-
The doublet's modest gray or brownG
The slender sword hilt's plain deviceH
What sign had these for prince or clownG
Few turned or none to scan him twiceH
-
Yet 't was the King of England's kingsI
The rest with all their pomps and trainsJ
Are mouldered half remembered thingsI
'T is he alone that lives and reignsJ
