Even This Will Pass Away Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECDE

Touched with the delicate green of early MayA
Or later when the rose uplifts her faceB
The world hangs glittering in starry spaceB
Fresh as a jewel found but yesterdayA
And yet 'tis very old what tongue may sayA
How old it is Race follows upon raceB
Forgetting and forgotten in their placeB
Sink tower and temple nothing long may stayA
We build on tombs and live our day and dieC
From out our dust new towers and temples startD
Our very name becomes a mysteryE
What cities no man ever heard of lieC
Under the glacier in the mountain's heartD
In violet glooms beneath the moaning seaE
