At Stratford-upon-avon Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABABCDBCE

Thus spake his dust so seemed it as I readA
The words Good friend for Jesus' sake forbeareB
Poor ghost To digg the dust enclos d heareB
Then came the malediction on the headA
Of whoso dare disturb the sacred deadA
Outside the mavis whistled strong and clearB
The winding Avon murmured in its bedA
But in the solemn Stratford church the airB
Was chill and dank and on the foot worn tombC
The evening shadows deepened momentlyD
Then a great awe fell on me standing thereB
As if some speechless presence in the gloomC
Was hovering and fain would speak with meE
