An Alpine Picture Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBCADDCEFDEGD| Stand here and look and softly draw your breath | A |
| Lest the dread avalanche come crashing down | B |
| How many leagues away is yonder town | B |
| Set flower wise in the valley Far beneath | C |
| Out feet lies summer here a realm of death | A |
| Where never flower has blossomed nor bird flown | D |
| The ancient water courses are all strown | D |
| With drifts of snow fantastic wreath on wreath | C |
| And peak on peak against the stainless blue | E |
| The Alps like towering campanili stand | F |
| Wondrous with pinnacles of frozen rain | D |
| Silvery crystal like the prism in hue | E |
| O tell me love if this be Switzerland | G |
| Or is it but the frost work on the pane | D |
