I've found a new home in the hospitalA
A six spring bed beside it my food bloodB
I've turned to a vampire always sucking bloodB
When crisis struck my medicine is to be rushed home hospitalA

A love that has faded at my birth where's the loveC
I've been given a name AbikuD
I'm the talk of many prosers and poets in different haikusE

My parents were enlightened about incompatible genotypesF
Yet they said Sickled cell children is not for their typeG

Yet they mocked who blood group helpI

Boyfriendship girlfriendship or marriage to dread abortionJ
If the women want to have children of their own in that or other unionsK
Nne Ogbanje Iya Abiku are names awaiting them after the abortionJ

All because of me Grandmas have been tagged witchesL
Stepmothers tagged as the most jealous witchesL
I've been taken to many herbalist and marabouts for incisionsK
My body is an Atlas with different maps of lacerationsK

My hope of becoming a lawyer have been dashedM
Many would be doctors nurses and lab scientist silencedN
Some are stillbirth in the womb already silencedN
While others on earth prematurely silenced and their hope dashedM

My parents loved and married blindly with hopeless hopeO
That when I'm born they'll be able to handle my crisisP
I've led them to many crises beyond their envisaged crisisP
Who am I to blame for my dashed hopesQ
