On The Desert Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHBIBJKKLMNODP HBQGJKKNRJ

On the desertA
A silence from the moon's deepest valleyB
Fire rays fall athwart the robesC
Of hooded men squat and dumbD
Before them a womanE
Moves to the blowing of shrill whistlesF
And distant thunder of drumsG
While mystic things sinuous dull with terrible colourH
Sleepily fondle her bodyB
Or move at her will swishing stealthily over the sandI
The snakes whisper softlyB
The whispering whispering snakesJ
Dreaming and swaying and staringK
But always whispering softly whisperingK
The wind streams from the lone reachesL
Of Arabia solemn with nightM
And the wild fire makes shimmer of bloodN
Over the robes of the hooded menO
Squat and dumbD
Bands of moving bronze emerald yellowP
Circle the throat and the arms of herH
And over the sands serpents move warilyB
Slow menacing and submissiveQ
Swinging to the whistles and drumsG
The whispering whispering snakesJ
Dreaming and swaying and staringK
But always whispering softly whisperingK
The dignity of the accursedN
The glory of slavery despair deathR
Is in the dance of the whispering snakesJ
