Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDBD AE FGHHG IJKBJJ ABAB CDLL AE

I'm walking backwards for ChristmasA
Across the Irish SeaB
I'm walking backwards for ChristmasA
It's the only thing for meB
-
I've tried walking sidewaysC
And walking to the frontD
But people just look at meB
And say it's a publicity stuntD
-
I'm walking backwards for ChristmasA
To prove that I love youE
-
An immigrant lad loved an Irish colleenF
From Dublin Galway BayG
He longed for her armsH
But she spurned his charmsH
And sailed o'er the foam awayG
-
She left the lad by himself on his ownI
All alone a sorrowingJ
And sadly he dreamed or at least that's theK
way it seemed buddyB
That an angel choir did singJ
An angel choir did singJ
-
I'm walking backwards for ChristmasA
Across the Irish SeaB
I'm walking backwards for ChristmasA
It's the finest thing for meB
-
And so I've tried walking sidewaysC
And walking to the frontD
But people just laughed and saidL
'It's a publicity stunt'L
-
So I'm walking backwards for ChristmasA
To prove that I love youE
