To A Lock Of Hair Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABC DDEEFFGGHHIIJJ KLMMNNNOOJJ

Thy hue dear pledge is pure and brightA
As in that well remember'd nightA
When first thy mystic braid was woveB
And first my Agnes whisper'd loveC
-
Since then how often hast thou prestD
The torrid zone of this wild breastD
Whose wrath and hate have sworn to dwellE
With the first sin that peopled hellE
A breast whose blood's a troubled oceanF
Each throb the earthquake's wild commotionF
O if such clime thou canst endureG
Yet keep thy hue unstain'd and pureG
What conquest o'er each erring thoughtH
Of that fierce realm had Agnes wroughtH
I had not wander'd far and wideI
With such an angel for my guideI
Nor heaven nor earth could then reprove meJ
If she had lived and lived to love meJ
-
Not then this world's wild joys had beenK
To me one savage hunting sceneL
My sole delight the headlong raceM
And frantic hurry of the chaseM
To start pursue and bring to bayN
Rush in drag down and rend my preyN
Then from the carcass turn awayN
Mine ireful mood had sweetness tamedO
And soothed each wound which pride inflamedO
Yes God and man might now approve meJ
If thou hadst lived and lived to love meJ
