A Farewell To False Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFG HIHICC JKLKMM NIIIII

Farewell false love the oracle of liesA
A mortal foe and enemy to restB
An envious boy from whom all cares ariseA
A bastard vile a beast with rage possessedB
A way of error a temple full of treasonC
In all effects contrary unto reasonC
-
A poisoned serpent covered all with flowersD
Mother of sighs and murderer of reposeE
A sea of sorrows whence are drawn such showersD
As moisture lend to every grief that growsE
A school of guile a net of deep deceitF
A gilded hook that holds a poisoned baitG
-
A fortress foiled which reason did defendH
A siren song a fever of the mindI
A maze wherein affection finds no endH
A raging cloud that runs before the windI
A substance like the shadow of the sunC
A goal of grief for which the wisest runC
-
A quenchless fire a nurse of trembling fearJ
A path that leads to peril and mishapK
A true retreat of sorrow and despairL
An idle boy that sleeps in pleasure's lapK
A deep mistrust of that which certain seemsM
A hope of that which reason doubtful deemsM
-
Sith then thy trains my younger years betrayedN
And for my faith ingratitude I findI
And sith repentance hath my wrongs bewrayedI
Whose course was ever contrary to kindI
False love desire and beauty frail adieuI
Dead is the root whence all these fancies grewI
