I VASHTI'S SONGA
-
-
Over the rim of the MoorB
And under the starry skyC
Two men came to my doorD
And rested them therebyC
-
Beneath the bough and the starE
In a whispering foreign tongueF
They talked of a land afarE
And the merry days so youngF
-
Beneath the dawn and the boughG
I heard them arise and goH
And my heart it is aching nowG
For the more it will never knowH
-
Why did they two departI
Before I could understandJ
Where lies that land O my heartI
O my heart where lies that landJ
-
II SATURNK
-
-
From my farm from h r farmL
Furtively we cameM
In either home a hearth was warmN
We nursed a hungrier flameM
-
Our feet were foul with mireO
Our faces blind with mistP
But all the night was naked fireQ
About us where we kiss'dP
-
To her farm to my farmL
Loathing we returnedR
Pale beneath a gallow's armL
The planet Saturn burnedR
-
III DERELICTIONS
-
-
O'er the tears that we shed dearT
The bitter vines twistP
And the hawk and the red deerT
They keep where we kiss'dP
All broken lies the shielingH
That sheltered from rainU
With a star to pierce the ceilingH
And the dawn an empty paneU
-
Thro' the mist up the moorwayV
Fade hunters and packH
From the ridge to thy doorwayV
Happy voices float backH
O between the threads o' mist loveW
Reach your hands from the houseX
Only mind that we kiss'd loveW
And forget the broken vowsY
