Trench Duty Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEFEFGG

Shaken from sleep and numbed and scarce awakeA
Out in the trench with three hours' watch to takeA
I blunder through the splashing mirk and thenB
Hear the gruff muttering voices of the menB
Crouching in cabins candle chinked with lightC
Hark There's the big bombardment on our rightC
Rumbling and bumping and the dark's a glareD
Of flickering horror in the sectors whereD
We raid the Boche men waiting stiff and chilledE
Or crawling on their bellies through the wireF
What Stretcher bearers wanted Some one killedE
Five minutes ago I heard a sniper fireF
Why did he do it Starlight overheadG
Blank stars I'm wide awake and some chap's deadG
