The Dark House Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE AGHGIJKJ

Dusk in the rain soaked gardenA
And dark the house withinB
A door creaked someone was earlyC
To watch the dawn beginB
But he stole away like a thiefD
In the chilly star bright airE
Though the house was shuttered for slumberF
He had left one wakeful thereE
-
Nothing moved in the gardenA
Never a bird would singG
Nor shake and scatter the dew from the boughsH
With shy and startled wingG
But when that lover had passed the gateI
A quavering thrush beganJ
'Come back come back ' he shrilled to the heartK
Of the passion plighted manJ
