Solar Eclipse Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Observe these blue solemnities of skyA
Offering for the academes of after agesB
A mythologic welkin freaked with whiteC
-
Listen one tiny tinkling rivuletC
Accentuates the super sultry stillnessD
That drones on ripening landscapes which implyA
Serene Parnassus plagued with amorous goatsE
-
Far down the vale Apollo has pursuedC
The noon bedazzled nymph whose hunted heartC
Holds but the trampling panic whence it fledC
And now the heavens are piled with darkening troubleF
And counter march of clouds that troop intentC
Fire crested into conflictC
Daphne turnsG
At the wood's edge in bronze and olive gloomH
Sickness assails the sun whose blazing discI
Dwindles the Eden of those auburn slopesJ
Lours in the tarnished copper of eclipseK
-
Yet virgin in her god impelled approachL
To Graeco Roman ravishment she waitsM
While the unsated python slides to crushN
Her lust eluding fleetness Envious JoveO
Rumbles Olympus All the classic worldC
Leans breathless toward the legend she createsM
-
From thunderous vapour smites the immortal beamP
Then crowned with fangs of foliage flames the godC
-
' Apollo ' Up the autumn valley echoesQ
A hollow shout from nowhere Daphne's limbsR
Lapse into laureldom green shadowed fleshS
Writhes aborescent glamour obscures her gazeT
With blind and bossed distortion She escapesU
