As he discussed the glorious time he'd had | B |
While visiting the trenches | C |
One can tell | A |
You've gathered big impressions grinned the lad | B |
Who'd been severely wounded in the back | D |
In some wiped out impossible Attack | D |
Impressions Yes most vivid I am writing | E |
A little book called Europe on the Rack | D |
Based on notes made while witnessing the fighting | E |
I hope I've caught the feeling of 'the Line' | F |
And the amazing spirit of the troops | G |
By Jove those flying chaps of ours are fine | F |
I watched one daring beggar looping loops | G |
Soaring and diving like some bird of prey | H |
And through it all I felt that splendour shine | F |
Which makes us win | F |
The soldier sipped his wine | F |
Ah yes but it's the Press that leads the way | H |
