Died Of Wounds Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CDD EEFF

His wet white face and miserable eyesA
Brought nurses to him more than groans and sighsA
But hoarse and low and rapid rose and fellB
His troubled voice he did the business wellB
-
The ward grew dark but he was still complainingC
And calling out for 'Dickie' 'Curse the WoodD
'It's time to go O Christ and what's the goodD
'We'll never take it and it's always raining '-
-
I wondered where he'd been then heard him shoutE
'They snipe like hell O Dickie don't go outE
I fell asleep Next morning he was deadF
And some Slight Wound lay smiling on the bedF
