At The Cenotaph Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCACADEDFAA

I saw the Prince of Darkness with his StaffA
Standing bare headed by the CenotaphA
Unostentatious and respectful thereB
He stood and offered up the following prayerB
'Make them forget O Lord what this MemorialC
Means their discredited ideas reviveA
Breed new belief that War is purgatorialC
Proof of the pride and power of being aliveA
Men's biologic urge to readjustD
The Map of Europe Lord of Hosts increaseE
Lift up their hearts in large destructive lustD
And crown their heads with blind vindictive Peace 'F
The Prince of Darkness to the CenotaphA
Bowed As he walked away I heard him laughA
