The Raven Days Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF CGCB H

Our hearths are gone out and our hearts are brokenA
And but the ghosts of homes to us remainB
And ghastly eyes and hollow sighs give tokenA
From friend to friend of an unspoken painB
-
O Raven days dark Raven days of sorrowC
Bring to us in your whetted ivory beaksD
Some sign out of the far land of To morrowC
Some strip of sea green dawn some orange streaksD
-
Ye float in dusky files forever croakingE
Ye chill our manhood with your dreary shadeF
Dumb in the dark not even God invokingE
We lie in chains too weak to be afraidF
-
O Raven days dark Raven days of sorrowC
Will ever any warm light come againG
Will ever the lit mountains of To morrowC
Begin to gleam athwart the mournful plainB
