The Mocking-bird Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACCDEFF

Superb and sole upon a plumed sprayA
That o'er the general leafage boldly grewB
He summ'd the woods in song or typic drewB
The watch of hungry hawks the lone dismayA
Of languid doves when long their lovers strayA
And all birds' passion plays that sprinkle dewB
At morn in brake or bosky avenueB
Whate'er birds did or dreamed this bird could sayA
Then down he shot bounced airily alongC
The sward twitched in a grasshopper made songC
Midflight perched prinked and to his art againD
Sweet Science this large riddle read me plainE
How may the death of that dull insect beF
The life of yon trim Shakespeare on the treeF
