My crippled sense fares bow'd along	A
His uncompanioned way	B
And wronged by death pays life with wrong	A
And I wake by night and dream by day	B

In sickly sameness out doth fail	D

And the woods stare strange and the wind is dumb	E
O Wind pray talk again	F
And the Hand of the Frost spreads stark and numb	E
As Death's on the deadened window pane	G

Still dumb thou Wind old voluble friend	H
And the middle of the day is cold	I
And the heart of eve beats lax i' the end	H
As a legend's climax poorly told	I

Oh vain the up straining of the hands	J
In the chamber late at night	C
Oh vain the complainings the hot demands	J
The prayers for a sound the tears for a sight	C

No word from over the starry line	K
No motion felt in the dark	L
And never a day gives ever a sign	K
Or a dream sets seal with palpable mark	L

And O my God how slight it were	M
How nothing thou All to thee	N
That a kiss or a whisper might fall from her	M
Down by the way of Time to me	N

Or some least grace of the body of love	O
Mere wafture of floating by	P
Mere sense of unseen smiling above	O
Mere hint sincere of a large blue eye	P
