Where Is My Ruined Life ? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDDD DEDE CDCD CFDF GHGH IHIH DJDJ

WHERE is my ruined life and where the fameA
Of noble deedsB
Look on my long drawn road and whence it cameA
And where it leadsB
-
Can drunkenness be linked to pietyC
And good reputeD
Where is the preacher's holy monodyD
Where is the luteD
-
From monkish cell and lying garb releasedD
Oh heart of mineE
Where is the Tavern fane the Tavern priestD
Where is the wineE
-
Past days of meeting let the memoryC
Of you be sweetD
Where are those glances fled and where for meC
Reproaches meetD
-
His friend's bright face warms not the enemyC
When love is doneF
Where is the extinguished lamp that made night dayD
Where is the sunF
-
Balm to mine eyes the dust my head I bowG
Upon thy stairH
Where shall I go where from thy presence thouG
Art everywhereH
-
Look not upon the dimple of her chinI
Danger lurks thereH
Where wilt thou hide oh trembling heart fleeing inI
Such mad haste whereH
-
To steadfastness and patience friend ask notD
If Hafiz keepJ
Patience and steadfastness I have forgotD
And where is sleepJ
