To Linger In A Garden Fair Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCAC DEDFGDG HIHIJKJ ALMNOMO

MIRTH Spring to linger in a garden fairA
What more has earth to give All ye that waitB
Where is the Cup bearer the flagon whereA
When pleasant hours slip from the hand of FateB
Reckon each hour as a certain gainC
Who seeks to know the end of mortal careA
Shall question his experience in vainC
-
Thy fettered life hangs on a single threadD
Some comfort for thy present ills deviseE
But those that time may bring thou shalt not dreadD
Waters of Life and Irem's ParadiseF
What meaning do our dreams and pomp conveyG
Save that beside a mighty stream wide fedD
We sit and sing of wine and go our wayG
-
The modest and the merry shall be seenH
To boast their kinship with a single voiceI
There are no differences to choose betweenH
Thou art but flattering thy soul with choiceI
Who knows the Curtain's secret Heaven is muteJ
And yet with Him who holds the Curtain e'enK
With Him oh Braggart thou would'st raise disputeJ
-
Although His thrall shall miss the road and errA
'Tis but to teach him wisdom through distressL
Else Pardon and Compassionate Mercy wereM
But empty syllables and meaninglessN
The Zealot thirsts for draughts of Kausar's wineO
And Hafiz doth an earthly cup preferM
But what between the two is God's designO
