The Rose Has Flushed Red Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACBC AAAAAAA DEEDAEA AAAAFAF GAAG

The rose has flushed red the bud has burstA
And drunk with joy is the nightingaleB
Hail Sufis lovers of wine all hailB
For wine is proclaimed to a world athirstA
Like a rock your repentance seemed to youC
Behold the marvel of what availB
Was your rock for a goblet has cleft it in twoC
-
Bring wine for the king and the slave at the gateA
Alike for all is the banquet spreadA
And drunk and sober are warmed and fedA
When the feast is done and the night grows lateA
And the second door of the tavern gapes wideA
The low and the mighty must bow the headA
'Neath the archway of Life to meet what outsideA
-
Except thy road through affliction passD
None may reach the halting station of mirthE
God's treaty Am I not Lord of the earthE
Man sealed with a sigh Ah yes alasD
Nor with Is nor Is Not let thy mind contendA
Rest assured all perfection of mortal birthE
In the great Is Not at the last shall endA
-
For Assaf's pomp and the steeds of the windA
And the speech of birds down the wind have fledA
And he that was lord of them all is deadA
Of his mastery nothing remains behindA
Shoot not thy feathered arrow astrayF
A bow shot's length through the air it has spedA
And then dropped down in the dusty wayF
-
But to thee oh Hafiz to thee oh TongueG
That speaks through the mouth of the slender reedA
What thanks to thee when thy verses speedA
From lip to lip and the song thou hast sungG
