The Bird Of Gardens Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDDE FAGABBHIJJJJJJKLKLHH K M

The bird of gardens sang unto the roseA
New blown in the clear dawn 'Bow down thy headB
As fair as thou within this garden closeC
Many have bloomed and died ' She laughed and saidB
'That I am born to fade grieves not my heartD
But never was it a true lover's partD
To vex with bitter words his love's repose 'E
-
The tavern step shall be thy hostelryF
For Love's diviner breath comes but to thoseA
That suppliant on the dusty threshold lieG
And thou if thou would'st drink the wine that flowsA
From Life's bejewelled goblet ruby redB
Upon thine eyelashes thine eyes shall threadB
A thousand tears for this temerityH
Last night when Irem's magic garden sleptI
Stirring the hyacinth's purple tresses curledJ
The wind of morning through the alleys steptJ
'Where is thy cup the mirror of the worldJ
Ah where is Love thou Throne of Djem ' I criedJ
The breezes knew not but 'Alas ' they sighedJ
'That happiness should sleep so long ' and weptJ
Not on the lips of men Love's secret liesK
Remote and unrevealed his dwelling placeL
Oh Saki come the idle laughter diesK
When thou the feast with heavenly wine dost graceL
Patience and wisdom Hafiz in a seaH
Of thine own tears are drowned thy miseryH
They could not still nor hide from curious eyesK
